Résumé: The main objective of this research was to question the way in which the implementation of CSR contributes to the improvement of the performance of SMEs in the Cameroonian context. To do so, we opted for a constructivist posture oriented towards a qualitative approach based on a single case study. We then conducted semi-directive interviews using an interview guide with three agri-food SMEs in the city of Douala and carried out a simple analysis of verbatim on CSR towards employees and customers and its influence on performance. This analysis allowed us to observe that CSR contributes to the improvement of the organisational efficiency of Cameroonian SMEs, which allows them to improve their performance. With regard to its vision towards employees and customers, it has a positive contribution in improving the image of SMEs. However, their practice remains little formalised, and it can no longer be said that CSR is the sole preserve of large multinational firms. It is therefore necessary to go beyond the caricature of multinationals and SMEs in terms of CSR, including in vulnerable nations like Cameroon.
