Résumé: | The objective of our study is to analyze the impact of proximity to stakeholders on delinquencies in microfinance. To achieve this, we resorted to the hypothetic-deductive method. Using a pre-established questionnaire, we conducted a survey of 155 individuals from microfinance located in the city of Yaoundé, including 70 credit managers and 85 borrowers selected for convenience over a period of two months (March-April 2021). Data analysis was performed using SPSS version 21 software for Windows (IBM. Chicago. USA). Descriptive statistics and categorical regression analysis methods were used. After analysis, it emerges on the one hand that relational proximity favors the rate of default in microfinance. On the other hand, residential proximity explains the default rate in microfinance through the distance between the institution and the borrower's place of residence. To reduce the rate of delinquency in microfinance, loan officers must further strengthen the mechanisms relating to the family relationship and the distance between the institution and the place of residence of the borrower. |
