dc.description.abstract | The objective of this thesis is to analyze the effect of microcredit on the efficiency of very small businesses. To achieve this objective we use primary data collected on 100 TPE in the city of Douala. We use descriptive analysis instruments as well as a logistic regression by the maximum likelihood method. The results obtained show that the microcredit granted to TPE by MFIs increases the probability for these TPEs of surviving in the long-term market as well as the probability of achieving positive financial results. The results also show that the effect of microcredit on the efficiency of MFIs depends not only on the nature of the interest rates charged by the MFIs, but also on the nature of the repayment terms they grant to their clients. Finally the results show that certain characteristics of VSEs in this case their size and sector of activity as well as the characteristics of their promoters (level of education, cultural area of origin) significantly affect their effectiveness. In view of the results obtained, we suggest that TPEs seek more credit from MFIs since these credits allow them not only to be able to cope with the vagaries that could threaten their long-term survival, but also to be able to improve their financial profitability. | en_US |
