Les activités du programme des nations unies pour le développement (PNUD) au Cameroun : le cas de la région de l’extrême-nord 1972-2020

Abstract

Our work focuses on "the activities of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in the Far North Cameroon region from 1972 to 2020". It is a question of analyzing the contributions, the influence of the activities of the UNDP to the development of the far north region. To do this, we have used both oral and written sources and we have adopted a chronological approach that is both quantitative and qualitative to complete our work. To do this, we first have to show the determinants of cooperation between Cameroon and the UNDP and the foundations of their actions in the far north Cameroon. It emerges that several factors have favored the actions of the UNDP in the far north which are political, economic and socio-cultural foundations. Secondly, we showed the activities and socio-economic integration projects of this organization which are financing of micro-projects and support for farmers and breeders and the construction of infrastructure as part of the realization of Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). In the end, we took stock of the activities of this organization which were hampered by numerous administrative, security and socio-cultural difficulties, but prospects were considered for future actions. At the end of this work, we have reached a result according to which the actions of the UNDP in the far north region have enabled the improvement of the living conditions of the populations, the fight against poverty and the reduction of inequality between the regions of Cameroon
