This dissertation, entitled "Professional Qualification of School Leaders and Student Achievement: A Study Conducted in Public Primary Schools in the First District of the City of N'Djamena," addresses the issue of results-based school management and the status of primary school principals. This work is presented in three (03) parts :the first part is the theoretical framework, which focuses on the literature review, the status of the issue and the problematic, followed by the methodological framework, which emphasizes the methodology adopted, and finally the third part consists of the presentation, analysis and discussion of the results and proposals. The idea of this research is based on the observation that a large number of principals do not have sufficient skills for the position to which they are appointed, which can negatively influence the academic performance of students, hence the failure rate. It should be noted that the question of the quality and efficiency of educational work with regard to the problem of school failure, crosses the educational stakes and debates. These polemics translate the interest that a whole society carries to the question of education and to the important role that it grants to the school in general and to the elementary school more particularly, place of the fundamental learning. In order to study the impact of professional qualification on school performance, we have called upon three (03) explanatory theories: the theory of strategic management, the theory of educational leadership and the theory of agencivity. In view of the above theoretical knowledge, the problem of our research is the lack of qualification. From this problem, the following question arises: Does the professional qualification of school leaders determine the academic performance of students? Our research objective was to show that the professional qualification of school leaders can influence the academic achievement of students. To verify these objectives, we worked with twenty-five (25) public elementary school actors in the city of Ndjamena. An interview guide was developed on the profile of school principals and what can be expected of them. This allowed us to collect data that was then analyzed using the content analysis technique. The results obtained after the analysis show that elementary school principals face countless challenges.en_US
