Technical secondary education in its industrial section remains out of step with the guidance law of 1998 which would require girls and boys to make the same career choices. According to Bourdieu's theory of social representation (1970), in a social system the conditions are met for children from specific families to learn and end up doing the same jobs as their parents. The hypothesis that emerges here is that gender identity has an influence on the orientation of girls in industrial fields. To arrive at the result, we had a sample of four girls from the industrial section with whom we interviewed. From the analysis of these interviews, it emerges first of all that the socialization environment has a considerable influence on the orientation of girls in industrial fields. Secondly, the cultural capital of parents and their social position do not have an influence on the orientation of girls in industrial fields. Finally, selfesteem has a link with the orientation of girls in industrial fields. the hypothesis was therefore partially confirmedfr_FR
