Résumé: The present study whose topic is “La Police au Cameroun : évolution et incidences socio-économiques (1925-2012)” is a research that examines in the first place, different factors that led to the creation and implementation of the police force in Cameroon under the Franco British administration, the status it acquired after the independence of East Cameroon which took place on the 1st January 1960 up to the creation of the Republic of Cameroon on the 12th January 1984 going through the federal states of October 1st 1961 and the united republic of Cameroon on 20th May 1972. It is also an opportunity to explore not only the reorganization of the administrative structures of this institution but equally to mention the training of the police elite through schools and centres created in this perspective such as the Yaounde Higher National Police School, the Mutenguene Police Training and Application Centre and the International School for Security Forces. In addition, the career profile of the staff of this corporation is also discussed through her daily activity, which is governed by rights and obligations. Beyond the protection of people and property, the capacity of the police to generate wealth for the public treasury through services rendered to its citizens and the state is mentioned. The field activities in matters of investigation allow for a professional study of information collection, which is even the core of police existence. Finally, the road, a crossroads of ideas where people, animals, things express themselves and show mutual respect, is at the heart of history of mentalities and carries within it a whole civilization. For a good readability, the approach adopted is interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary. Hence, the diverse written, iconographic digital and oral source caused us to make use of both the analytical, thematic and diachronic approaches of writing. Consequently, the usage of stylistic device made it possible for us to analyse and regroup the various themes with their respective actors; the changes as well as the dynamism of this profession have been favorable to environmental development. In the same vein, some conclusions were drawn and solutions were proposed to curb the obstacles that undermine this profession such as corruption and other deviant behaviors adopted by the police officer to the detriment not only of the citizens but also of the Cameroonian state. Proposals were also envisaged for the smooth running of this institution; particularly the improvement of the working environment of the police agents, the establishment of a virtual platform for the exchange of information with technical services of the other administration in order to allow the National Security to carry out rapid and effective actions in the fight against crime in collaboration with the population.
