Résumé: | Mycobacterium tuberculosis is responsible each year for approximately 9 million new cases of active tuberculosis (TB) and 1.4 million deaths worldwide. In Cameroon as in most countries of the Sub-Saharan region, tuberculosis is a common disease. The annual incidence was estimated at 243 cases per 100 000 inhabitants in 2011. In the Centre region, the epidemiology of TB has so far largely consisted of describing the number of cases detected and socio-demographic data associated. Actually, there are no published data on the molecular epidemiology of the disease in this region of the country. In order to determine molecular characteristics of strains circulating in the region to improve our understanding of the transmission dynamic, we conducted a study whose general objective was to describe the molecular epidemiology of tuberculosis and characterize mutations associated with Isoniazid, Rifampicin and Streptomycin resistance |
