Résumé: This dissertation entitled “Household waste management in the Arrondissement Commune of Ngaoundéré3e. Case of the neighborhoods: Malang, Dang, Bini, and Manwi” aims to show the unsanitary state of the neighborhoods of this Commune. It is based on the following main research question: Ho-+w to sustainably improve waste management in the Commune of Ngaoundéré 3e. This study is based on a methodology that combines documentary research, the survey of a representative sample of households and semi-structured interviews with officials in charge of solid waste management in Ngaoundéré. It shows that the omnipresence of household waste on the physical landscape of the neighborhoods of the Arrondissement Commune of Ngaoundéré 3rd is explained by the demographic explosion, combined with an irrational management of household waste and all aggravated by the incivility of the populations. The amount of waste produced by households varies from one neighborhood to another as well as from one household to another, most often depending on the standard of living of the population. According to our field surveys, the average value of current household waste production in Ngaoundéré 3rd is 0.78 kg/inhabitant/day. With an estimated population of 65,000 inhabitants, the daily production of household waste amounts to 50,700 kg. That is a total of 50. 70 t/day and 18,505 t/year. Of all this quantity, the HYSACAM company transports 0.7t of household waste per day. This low rate highlights the dysfunctions in the management of household waste in this administrative district. This is reflected in the daily life of populations and the environment by the development of insect vectors of diseases such as: malaria, typhoid, modification of the urban landscape, soil degradation, water pollution and clogging gutters. The results of this study are also used to propose concrete recommendations and a pre- collection and composting project with the aim of ensuring greater efficiency in the management of household waste in the municipality of Ngaoundéré IIIème.
