This work focuses on Gender ratio of engineering professions in Cameroon: Case of women engineers in Civil Engineering. The objective is to identify the factors accounting for the low representation of women in the Civil Engineering profession and the strategies they employ to make their way into this profession. The main question is to know: What factors explain the low representation of women and the gender inequalities observed in the field of civil engineering? We have put forward a main hypothesis according to which, social constructions and biological factors are at the origin of the low representation of women and the gender inequalities observed in the field of Civil Engineering. Despite this, the women of the Civil Engineering do not let themselves be pushed around but they create a path for themselves in that profession they have chosen to exercise. Indeed, as soon as they choose to do this job, they come up against many prejudices from those around them, nevertheless they give their passion and their tenacity to do what they love, women in this field develop strategies to get by. We conducted this research using a set of qualitative methodological processes that allowed us to collect information related to our research topic. The results show that the difficulties encountered by women in the professional environment of Civil Engineering in Cameroon do not prevent them from exercising in this sector but, they transform it to resilience, strength and impose themselves the way they can.fr_FR
