dc.description.abstract | This research work aims to study the influence of the risk mapping of the city of Yaoundé on the prevention of natural disasters. 151 participants from the swampy areas of Yaoundé VI were selected using purposive sampling. The sample consisted of female participants (n=71) and male participants (n=80) aged 15-56, of all educational levels. They were submitted to a self-administered composite questionnaire consisting of the risk mapping scale, the natural disaster prevention scale inspired by the protection motivation theory and additional information. The results obtained after correlation and regression analysis generally showed that risk mapping influences the prevention of natural disasters. Specifically, these results showed that the landslide map (-0.267, P-0.001), the rockfall map (-0.278 ; P=0.001), the collapse map (r=0.267; P=0.001), the rockfall map (r=0.278; P =0.001), the collapse map (r=0.256, P=0.002), the landslide map (r=0.257; P=0.001), the flooded areas map (r=0.284; P=0.000), the hydraulic network map (r=0.277; P=0.001), marshy lowlands map (r=0.289; P=0.000) and rainfall map (r=0.243; P=0.003). These results confirm the importance of consulting and using the risk map of a specific locality in the prevention of natural disasters. | fr_FR |
