Résumé: African states are experiencing several security problems that are hampering their development ambitions. The East Cameroon region has been a security problem for the State for many years. Cross-border insecurity, in which trans-ethnic peoples now play a key role, is one of the security threats to stability in the region. The central idea of this work is therefore to demonstrate that ethnic transcommunitarianism, through its involvement in the manifestation of crime in this region, constitutes a significant lever of cross-border insecurity. Reaching this conclusion is no accident, but the result of exploiting various sources of oral, written and digital information. Using theories of transnationalism combined with hypothetico-deductive, qualitative and quantitative approaches, we arrived at the following results: the strategic natural resources that flood the East Cameroon region constitute an important parameter that fuels cross-border insecurity and tensions between transethnic communities. Secondly, the region is a convincing example of the dynamism of trans-ethnic relations, which are developing maneuvers to circumvent state rules on movement in the border area. Finally, the involvement of trans-ethnic peoples in the manifestation of certain criminal activities contributes to the growth of cross-border insecurity, which has harmful repercussions both on States and in the day-to-day relations of border populations.
