Résumé: Since the 2010s, Cameroon has linked its education system to the competences-based approach. Since then, teaching and teachers have seen their practices changed to comply with the new deal. For PES, the teaching-learning-evaluation process is also part of this movement. However, the evaluation following the pedagogy of integration does satisfy neither the teachers nor the students, because the mechanism in place only assesses them on their motor skills, ignoring other aspects of the competence (knowledge and social skills) developed throughout the teaching cycle. Our research pursues the objective of verifying the existence and the strength of the bond that may exist between the competences-based approach (CBA) standards evaluation mechanisms and the measurement of the skills developed by students in shot put. The evaluation CBA standards prescribe to take into consideration, the evaluation object described in the 2013 Official Instructions. During the evaluation, they should be linked to the parameters of the organisation and conduct of an evaluation, to enable the PES teacher to conduct the evaluation with the objective of measuring the different skills developed by students, because the final decision (the mark) has an impact on their performance. Hence the research question: how can a CBA standard evaluation mechanism measures the skills developed by students in shot put? To address the issue, a questionnaire survey was carried out among a sample of PES teachers in the Yaoundé III subdivision. The obtained results indicate that the evaluation of the skills developed by students are possible only if the mechanism used in his school take into consideration elements that facilitate their measurement. At the end of our study, after analysis and interpretation of the collected data, we came to the conclusion that the mechanism of evaluation in shut pot must be improved. These recommendations were addressed to the public authorities responsible of developing evaluation tools in PES.
