Résumé: If the fight to eradicate extreme poverty is a global consensus, even a small amount of support in the daily life of a very poor household is valuable. Social organizations and people who work on a daily basis with poor households can say a lot on this subject. However, the fight against extreme poverty in our country through the implementation of a social protection system by the supervisory ministries or any other social organization seems to be slipping. Several households are very poor in their daily lives, do not have the basic necessities - nutrition, health care, security - some live in swampy areas, unfinished construction sites or in the street, their children of school age are not in school. Thus, this research aims to: Explore the challenges that hinder the effectiveness of strategies to combat extreme poverty, the case of the Social Net Project programs in the Nkol-bikok district in the commune of Yaoundé VI. To achieve this, we adopted an exploratory approach based on document analysis and individual interviews. We met seven (07) managers, thirty (30) beneficiaries of the programs as well as thirteen (13) participants from two microfinance SMEs. Based on semi-structured interviews, these managers and beneficiaries gave us their real-life experiences. A thematic analysis of these interviews allowed us to address several challenges on the strategies developed for health promotion, education and financial empowerment of beneficiaries. Thus, resource mobilization is approximate in several respects. Budgetary envelopes are insufficient, inter-organizational consultation is embryonic, certain organizations and decentralized local authorities do not understand the challenges of effective selection of the most deprived. Also, we came to the conclusion that to overcome these challenges, program decision-makers must mobilize all public and private resources, always defining for poorer households: care and medical support mechanisms; interest-free bank loan mechanisms for the expansion of their income-generating activities; systematic literacy mechanisms (digital skills - self-teaching); the systematic relocation and resettlement of those living in swampy areas; mechanisms that promote social entrepreneurship.
