Modalization is approached in a variety of ways, which does not greatly help in fully understanding the phenomenon, as it creates semantic and interpretive ambiguity with modality from which it originates. Therefore, the present study is based on the analysis model of the French linguist, Robert Vion, who distinguishes between the phenomenon of modalization and that of modality, unlike other overly extensive analyses. In this continuum, we have called upon the stylistics of expression by Charles Bally, during which we utilized Anna Jaubert's approach, a related study that allows for the examination of the pragmatic purpose of discourse. Consequently, we were able to distinguish the affective and axiological values of the formal marks of modalization. As a result, it was possible to analyze the argumentative scope of modalization in the work "Fils de prelat". Thus, it turns out that subjective adverbs and adjectives effectively contributed, relative to nouns, verbs, and meta enunciative and discursive glosses, to more easily forge a strong argument that allowed Armand Claude Abanda to rally the reader to the cause he defends.fr_FR
