dc.description.abstract | The present study, entitled "UNICEF and the development of the basic education system in the city of N'Djamena (1982-2016)", examines the actions carried out by this international NGO in favor of basic education in the city of N'Djamena. The main question underlying our research is: How does UNICEF contribute to increasing the supply of basic education in the city of N'Djamena? This study aims to analyze UNICEF's contribution to the development of the basic education system in the city of N'Djamena from 1982-2016.To answer this question, we used an interdisciplinary approach, involving the use of disciplines such as sociology and history. These different disciplines enabled us to understand the foundations of the crisis in the education system in the area under study, to decipher the problems linked to this sector and the resolution mechanisms adopted. This work is also based on a multitude of sources, including oral sources, written archives, reports, scientific publications, books and academic and electronic works. These sources were analyzed and compared to better define our subject. After analysis, it emerged that since independence, the basic education system in the city of N'Djamena has been subject to various constraints: demographic pressure, logistical and infrastructural problems, low standard of living of the populations and many others. These contraints were aggravated from 1979 by the wave of instability that Chad experienced and which from 1983 found roots in city of N’Djamena. At the end of the period of unrest, which is shaking the country, the Chadian government is stepping up initiatives to combat school dropout and illiteracy. Local communities, Christian churches and external partners including UNICEF supported him in this endeavor. Its multifaceted actions have contributed to increasing the school enroliment rate among the youngest children, but remain limited by in relation to the scale of demand. | fr_FR |
