Résumé: | Our study, entitled “Socio-educative support for the vulnerable and quality empowerment for the destitute: a community intervention approach in the Yaounde II Sub- division” is an exploratory-descriptive type of research that looks at the low level, if not the absence of empowerment of the destitute in the Yaounde II Sub-division, even though there are many measures decreed by the state to take care of them and thus facilitates their empowerment. Based on this observation, we set ourselves the following main research question: does socio - economic support for vulnerable people facilitates high-quality autonomy for the destitute? To answer this question, we formulated the general hypothesis that “the socio -educativ support of vulnerable people facilitates high-quality empowerment for the destitute”. The socio-educatif model of UNESCO (2004) support, followed by Barlet and Aiglepierre (2016), and the theories of empowerment and the hierachisation of needs served as our theoretical framework. The mixed quatitative and qualitative method served as our operational framework based, on one hand, on a non-participative direct observation of a hypothetico-deductive type, conducted using an observation grid of economically disadvantaged individuals in the Yaounde II Sub- division. The quantitative data was processed using the SPSS software and analyzed descriptively, and the qualitative data were processed by saturation. This analysis enabled us to confirm the four research hypotheses of our study. These results confirmed our general hypothesis. Consequently, “socio-economic support for vulnerable people facilitates the autonomy of indigent people”. As a result, the low or even non-existent empowerment faced by the poor due to lack of support. |
