La production et la commercialisation de arachide dans la region du logone Occidental, de 1961 à 2020

Abstract

Western Logone is one of the main areas where peanuts are grown in the southof Chad. As is the case throughout the entire Chadian territory, it is cotton which has always been the major crop of this locality. But the repeated crises which affected cotton led to the expansion of peanut cultivation. This is why thinkers often say that"itis under the shade of cotton that the cultivation of peanuts emerged in Chad". This oil seed has taken on proportions and today occupies an important place in the economic life and development of Western Logone. Other localities in Chad are supplied wise peanuts from Western Chad. This Western Logone peanut produced in Chad is sold neighboring countries such as Cameroon. Our dissertation therefore aims to analyze the contribution of the production of peanuts in the development of Western Logone in Chad. For this, we used several sources as required in history. This is how we used written sources (archives, dissertations, theses, Scientifics articles and books), oral sources (testimonies) as well as iconographic sources constituted of pictures. Its ultimately emerges from our work, that peanuts still allow populations of Western Logone to improve their living conditions, but that this contribution is completely sufficient.We set out to base ourselves on a methodological approach that was both synchronic, analytic, quantitative and qualitative
