The research presented in this thesis focuses on the social responsibility of wood processing companies and local development in Cameroon: the case of the industrial company of Mbang (SIM) in Ahala II. In fact, how to understand the minimal interest given to CSR and the inefficiency of local development in relation to the processing of wood by the SIM in Ahala II? This is the main research question of this reflection. The objective here is to understand on the one hand the place given to CSR by the SIM in the context of its wood processing activities, and on the other hand the contribution of this structure to the local development of its area of implantation. Indeed, on the basis of a qualitative survey carried out with administrative, municipal and traditional authorities, SIM officials, SIM workers, civil society organizations and residents of Ahala II, we identify and let's analyze the etiology and manifestations of SIM's lack of enthusiasm for CSR and local development on the one hand and the impact of the presence of this company in this locality on the other hand. The interest of such an approach which mobilizes the theory of stakeholders, the social dynamic theory and the theory of social dominance is to be able to question the consideration of local populations by the SIM, the changes observed in this locality due to the presence of this company and to analyze the relations that exist between the managers of SIM and its workers on the one hand and the relations that exist between the company and the local community of Ahala II on the other. As a result, SIM's low enthusiasm for CSR and local development is manifested through major environmental pollution, low participation in the construction of basic infrastructure despite the high profitability of this sector of activity.en_US
