Résumé: | This work entitled: ''local private businesses and women's employment in the city of Yaoundé 1989-2022'' is an economic and social history study on the professional situation of women within these private institutions which participate to the economic growth of Cameroon. It raises the problem of recruitment and career management of this social category in these societies in a context of generalized employment crisis in Cameroon. The objective of this study carried out over more than three decades of activity and the involvement of women in the private sector in Cameroon is to evaluate and examine the situation of employment of women by private companies in the city of Yaounde. Finally, to achieve this objective, the exploitation of a plurality of sources was necessary. This mainly involved using archival documents, oral sources and existing literature on the issue. The explanatory, analytical and thematic approaches served as a basis for the presentation and restitution of the facts. This methodological approach made it possible to structure this work into four chapters, the analysis of which led to the conclusion that local businesses in Cameroon have contributed significantly to the employment of women but that the latter experiences many difficulties in integrate into the private professional environment. And above all to have a peaceful and fulfilling career given the biological, social, cultural and phycological constraints they face. It therefore emerges from the study that the situation of the female gender within private companies in the city of Yaoundé is still very uncomfortable compared to the opposite gender. However, it must be recognized that some notable advances have been observed and are due to the involvement of these women of the State and even the heads of these different companies. |
