Résumé: This brief examines the lack of consideration given to sustainable motivation in the remuneration planning of permanent teachers in private Catholic secondary schools. Remuneration represents the whole philosophy of an institution's values. It is not limited to salary. It also includes all the benefits received by the employee in return for his or her work. There is a statute for Catholic education in the world and a remuneration policy reference in this order of education. However, even though Catholic secondary schools are ranked first in the national league table of school results, the recurrent events in the cities of Yaoundé and Douala in this level of education are marked by mood swings and repeated strikes by staff. The teachers, most of whom are permanent staff, are generally demanding a better pay policy. This is a situation that undermines any sustainable motivation, despite the fact that the Catholic referential states that equity consists of guaranteeing the development of man, the improvement of the human person and a more secure motivation of the individual. So are the elements of sustainable motivation taken into account in the remuneration of permanent staff? The aim of this work is to propose better planning for the remuneration of permanent staff in Catholic education, taking into account the needs of these staff. While the scientific approach is hypothetico-deductive, the target sample of permanent staff is one hundred (N=62), while the study is quantitative and of the action-research type. The analysis paradigm is constructivist. The work draws on David McClelland's (1961) theory of needs. In the results, the elements of the need for success, in the same way as those of affiliation and power, are not sufficiently taken into account in the remuneration planning of permanent staff in Catholic colleges.
