Résumé: According to UN demographic statistics (1984), we can estimate that in 1970 years (1800 – 1970), the world population quadrupled while at the same time, that of cities was multiplied by 25. Rapid growth s accompanies many problems including land issues. Yaoundé, the capital of Cameroon, is no exception. In its spatial extension in the southwest direction, it has generated several land conflicts in the Mbankomo District. In order to help limit land conflicts, we downloaded high-resolution satellite images and collected cartographic data for the study area from the INC. We applied a questionnaire to 385 households. The results obtained indicate that between 1985 and 2022, the southwest front of Yaoundé towards Mbankomo has evolved from 1557 hectares to 13734 hectares, i.e. an increase in absolute value of 12177 hectares and in relative value of 79.68% in 37 years. In addition, the drivers of this expansion are, among others, local populations, land sales, population growth; the construction and installation of health services, accommodation establishments, microfinance and traditional authorities. To cope with this spatial expansion, we recommend that the Municipality of Mbankomo, in collaboration with the MINHDU, develop an Urban Planning Document such as a POS (Land Use Plan) or a PSU (Summary Plan of Land Use). Urban planning) which will allow planned urbanization which limits land conflicts.
