Résumé: The debate surrounding official languages has become a daily controversy in Chad, particularly in the city of Abéché. Arabic and French are treated differently in Chadian public sectors, which has led to claims from speakers of both languages. This work is titled: "Linguistic Conflict between French and Arabic in the City of Abéché, Chad." The objective is to identify the causes and manifestations of this linguistic conflict. To carry out this research, we distributed 300 questionnaires to students, including 150 French speakers and 150 Arabic speakers from Adam Backa University and the École Normale Supérieure of Abeche. The analysis involved entering all the information provided into Excel. This software allowed us to calculate the percentages of different responses before conducting further analyses. The results obtained from this study show that the coexistence between Arabic and French speakers is not peaceful. Despite the official status granted to both languages, it appears that French dominates Arabic in various administrations. According to our survey's perceptions, one of the sources of the problem stems from religions and cultural identities through which speakers identify their languages. Proposals have been made to address the issue.
