The socio-political events that brought Cameroon to its internal autonomy and its reunification were very painful for certain subdivisions, in this case the subdivision of Nyong and Kellé. Thus, the political cleavage that takes shape from the end of the Second World War, is led by men determined to overthrow the colonial power installed in the country since 1916 (during the First World War). These men, first meeting in the same union to claim the rights of indigenous people and workers, decided to create political parties capable of demanding and claiming the power held by France. Very early, some created the Union of the Population of Cameroon (UPC), institutionalized political organ to claim the immediate reunification of the two Cameroon and the independence of Cameroon. Our theme, "the activities of the UPC in the Nyong and Kelle subdivision and political and socio-economic consequences (1948-1962): An attempt at historical analysis '', aims to make it clear that at the risk of the demand for freedom of Cameroonians, the UPC members installed in the maquis (Nyong and Kelle) have used the elements of culture Bassa reserved for third parties (Mbombock). This is the case of the absolute defense system or shielding, the ancestral hypnotic kaleidoscope and the ancestral saving cry that were used in the context of political oppression by all nationalists. Indeed, this study aims to show that the role of cultural factors in the political action of the UPC in Nyong and Kelle, within the framework of its legal political activity as well as during the armed insurrection that occurred after his ban, he resorted to ritual practices, divination practices and shielding but also the manufacture of firearms and many others. Finally, this study could allow a certain opinion to live the cultural practices of resistance of nationalists and upset many to prejudge the relationship that can exist between traditional and modern warfare techniques. This at a time when African societies in this case Cameroon, have turned their back on the ancestral rites that allowed the Nyong and Kellé Bassa upecistes to resist for a long time.fr_FR
