Résumé: This norms established by law have been identified as crucial points. By understanding the complexities of anarchic urbanization, we can work towards creating more livable, equitable, and sustainable cities for all.study examines the issue of uncontrolled urban expansion in Limbe 1 subdivision. It hypothesizes that uncontrolled urbanization is caused by multiple factors, including demographic ressure,informal settlements, overcrowding and poverty, social inequality and increased vulnerability. The goal is to contribute to the improvement of uncontrolled urbanization in order to achieve a better city. To the improvement of uncontrolled urbanization in order to achieve a better city.to this end, we explored observed data, conducted semi- structured interviews, surveys, and some statistical cross-checking. This allowed us to analyze urban sprawl in certain neighborhoods of Limbe 1(down beach, cassava farms, Mbonjo, Mawoh, potopoto quarter and Mabeta) and to observe the resurgence of uncontrolled construction. The results enabled us to establish a state of affairs of urbanization in limbe 1. The results reveal the resurgence of uncontrolled constructions. The findings establish a state of affairs of urbanization in Limbe 1 requires a comprehensive approach, including urban planning, infrastructure development, inclusive governance and sustainable development. Limbe is a coastal town with many assets, but it is also subjects to natural risks (landslides, volcanism). It is crucial to carefully select settlement areas, as the town lies at the foot of an active volcano. Comparing satellite imagery from 1980 to 2023, a shocking observation emerges: there has been a significant decline in vegetation cover in favor of expanding demographic concentration since the 2000s.this is linked to several factors, including the establishment of companies like CDC and SONARA in the areas, the city’s attractions (beach, landscape, and tranquility). This situation has led spatial and economic impacts that have modified the urban space, amplifying socioeconomic and environmental problems. In response, an urbanization plan has been established to address uncontrolled urbanization issues. However, with the exaggerated population growth, it will become even more difficult to manage precarious settlements and limit exposure to hazards.
