This dissertation focuses on the vulnerability of childhood. Its aim is to analyse the condition of the child through the prism of the novelists Jules Renard and Raymond Queneau. The exegesis focuses on the foundations of the emotional suffering followed by the rejection of the family in Jules Renard's work, as well as the quest for identity that follows in Queneau's Zazie. In these conditions, we need to study the vision that emerges from the alienation and painful individual experience of the characters Poil de Carotte and Zazie. To demonstrate this, his problematic seeks to determine the aesthetic procedures that enable Jules Renard and Raymond Queneau to show that the evocation of childhood is that of a devious ordeal. The novel's look at childhood through the textualization of its condition deploys the authors' satirical ideological thinking and positioning, based on linguistic and social introspection. The poetics of the novel are used to achieve this demonstrative objective. The method used by Vincent Jouve and, before him, Philippe Hamon helps to dissect the aesthetic devices employed in the novels Poil de Carotte and Zazie dans le métro in order to give an idea of the figure of the child as it is presented synchronically and diachronically in France. The analysis using the named method is carried out in three stages. The first examines the poetics of childhood representation in Poil de Carotte and Zazie dans le métro. The second analyses the poetics of the vulnerability of childhood in Poil de carotte and Zazie dans le métro. The third looks at the problem of unhappy childhoods in France, questioning the place of reality in this situation. Key words:fr_FR
