Enfant exposé à la violence conjugale prolongée : clinique du processus d’activation de la résilience chez 5 cas

Abstract

This study, entitled “Children exposed to prolonged domestic violence: the clinical process of resilience activation in 5 cases”, is part of the field of clinical psychology. According to the theory of resilience activation, in children exposed to domestic violence, this process starts with relational connection, which promotes the activation and strengthening of social bonds; then the ritualization of meaning and meaningful leadership, which give meaning to domestic violence, reinforces cohesion and stimulates psychic and social reconstruction; and finally, meaningful leadership, which acts as an emotional catalyst, containing anguish and inspiring reconstruction. In institutions, these levers are provided by professionals. However, in the case of Cameroonian children exposed to prolonged domestic violence, and not benefiting from the intervention of professionals, we have observed that, depending on the capacity of their support network to contain the violence, the resilience process is activated. This leads us to pose the following research question: how do children exposed to prolonged domestic violence and not receiving professional help manage to activate their resilience process? The aim of the study is to understand the process of resilience activation in children exposed to prolonged domestic violence. To achieve this goal, we used a clinical method based on a questionnaire.
