Résumé: Men, in the evolution of their daily habits, men have understood that the environment which formerly provided food, materials to build shelters and pharmaceutical products could also play a different role: the conservation and preservation for contemplation and generation incomes. Thus, the theme "Ecotourism as a strategy of socio-economic development of Mount Manenguba and its environs" has as its main objective to explore that evolution of human mentalities which led to the new practices. To achieve such an objective requires a review of physical and human study in our own area of survey, followed by a specific presentation of ecotourism activities, before concluding with strategic proposals to improve on these activities. To carry out our work, we have adopted an inductive, a deductive, a hypothetico-deductive and a systemic approach as our main theoretical framework. More specifically, the systemic approach was principally considered in the study since ecotourism is a kind of system. In addition, the results of this fieldwork study were drawn from the following research instruments: questionnaire, interviews and direct observations. The processing of these data collected reveals that, despite the benefits of the ecotourism potentials of the massif of Manenguba, ecotourism development is still lagging behind. Also, the regional economic activities strongly threaten the ecotourism activities and the emergence of a local socio-economic development. The field observation indicates that the Mount has an insufficient socio-collective infrastructure of ecotourism and the lack of awareness among the population of the potentials of the environment. And, this is one of the main focus of this research: to suggest some directions that can be followed by the State and its diverse partners to make a mount Manenguba an attractive ecotourism site nationwide.
