Les chutes de Nachtigal et le développement du tourisme à Batchenga

Abstract

The title of the work is “The Nachtigal fall and the development of tourism in Batchenga.” This topic raised a question why a touristic potential like the Nachtigal waterfall has unfortunately been abandoned, meanwhile if developed, it could attract a good number of people. In order to better understand the problem, we carried out research in some households within the Sub Division. Out of a total of 1.569 households, we questioned a randomly sampled 100 households in order to know their opinion about the touristic situation of the Nachtigal fall. In addition to the questionnaire, we equally discussed with the resource persons using our interview guides with the objective of having better clarifications on the said topic. After carrying out this research, our results showed that on the one hand this site has both natural and economic advantages. But on the other hand, this touristic site has problems such as: lack of touristic developments, insecurity, lack of publicity, laxity and lack of synergy between the skilled actors in development. In order to solve these problems, we made some proposals at various levels which could enable the government and the private actors to solve the problems. At the level of infrastructure, we recommend the construction of touristic infrastructure particularly with the coming of foreign investors, because these activities will provide employment for the local inhabitants. From the administrative and legal stand point we propose that actors should work in synergy in order to create and implement touristic development policies. From the cultural, technical and organizational perspective, the local population should promote their local foot stuff. The state should develop the site, ensure security and train local guides etc. The implementation of the various proposals will develop tourism within the Nachtigal locality and Batchenga as a whole.
