Résumé: Our reflection focuses on: «Tourist potentials and socio-economic development in the Sub-division of AKOM II». To identify the essential contours of our topic, the main question here is: what’s the relationship between tourist potentials and socio-economic development of the sub-division of AKOM II. This question has led us to make the following main assumptions: the Sub-division of AKOM II has significant tourist potentials. Despite these advantages, there is a minor impact on socio-economic development. This situation seems to be linked to the slot or non-operation of such heritage. In order to come up with such different conclusions we have made use of a certain methodology based on a systemic approach through which we make an analysis of the interrelationships between the different facts and outlines of the subject. At the end of this exercise, it follows that AKOMII shows huge natural tourisms potential (caves, waterfalls, lakes etc.) and artificial (monuments, historical places, cultural activities) which would be of good tourist assets if they are valued. However, the strategies adopted by local players, private and State ownership and the promotion of the tourist heritage are obstructed by numerous political, economic and socio-cultural obstacles. In order to promote the socio-economic development expected through tourism, it is important for stakeholders to collaborate in the design and implementation of tourism projects, to educate local populations about the importance of preserving the sites for sustainable tourism. But also for the State to decentralize action and the tourist structures in order to assist the Sub-division of AKOMII and the other Sub-division of Cameroon in their socio-economic development process.
