Résumé: | This study analyses the strengths and weaknesses in tourism development in the district of Monatélé. Thus, the analysis of the results of quantitative and qualitative data from surveys and interviews points out that Monatélé does not attract visitors though it is endowed with many attractions. This dysfunction of the tourism sector in Monatélé can be attributed to a low level of development of natural and socio-cultural potentials of tourism, infrastructure and almost nonexistent services, poor roads, lack of funding, populations and selflessness of local elites, and the absence of a map or inventory of tourism resources. This situation has political and socioeconomic origins. Aware of the multiplier effects of tourism on local development, the study in its main objective tends to suggest a development strategy of the natural and cultural riches of Monatélé to trigger the development of its tourist industry. Therefore, to make Monatélé a tourist destination, there is a need for reform. This is carried out through the development of natural, cultural heritage, basic social infrastructure, accommodation and catering as well as communications which has to be supported by good marketing in order to attract tourists who are increasingly demanding and in search of a safe and varied stay. The State must therefore, in collaboration with local stakeholders, work to apply its tourism policies in the development sector of Monatélé. |
