Résumé: « Touristic Potentials of River Nyong and Socio-economic Development of Akonolinga » is the theme we have chosen for our end of courses work (second cycle) at the Yaounde Higher Teacher Training. We based our methodology on the collection of data and their interpretation to finaly verify the hypothesis made before. At the begining of our work, we presented the theme for a good understanding. We justified our choice and we showed the spatial and temporal milieu where were moving. At that level, the research puts forward that Akonolinga is a town distant to Yaounde by 110 km. Climate there alternates from heat to humidity. The singularity of that town is the presence of a river called « Nyong». From the potentials that river offers, our study tries to show up these capacities which should normaly develop tourism in that town. Here, the abundant halieutic produts living in the Nyong, particularly the fish called « kanga » reputed for its aphrodisiac virtue, the navigability of the river from Akonolinga to Abong-Mbang towards north Cameroon and from Akonolinga to Mbalmayo towards south, the presence of a precious metal, the rutile in its banks, and the sand of good quality inside the water (soil), without counting the bridge which makes the proudness of the inhabitants of the town. All these potentials make the town a touristic destination. But, from the data collected in the field, we noted the absence of touristic infrastructure in town. The study shows the factors of that situation: the divisional delegation of tourism is not created and opened in Akonolinga by the State; the municipality does not thing about it and local elites are more concerned by political battles instead of economic preoccupations. Our study ends by strong recommandations towards all these structures and personalities.
