Estudio del espacio en Los Pazos de Ulloa de Emilia Pardo Bazán

Abstract

This work aims, through a space lecture orientation, to give a sociocritic dimension to Los Pazos De Ulloa (1886) of Emilia PardoBazán. Here, the space is no more studied as a structuring coordinate of the narration, but as a true acting, who participates directly into the novel, we choose and into the society we are living. We can notice that, the space described into Los Pazos De Ulloa is really a space where lived the author to which she add fictive spaces constructed by herself related with the idea she wants to communicate inside her book. Through this processes, she attempts the possibility to carry the lector inside her own universe. And when she came to realize this desire to reproduce the real that told about (Barthes Roland, 1978), she got then to a point which really called our attention: her way to see and to talk about the social classes. So, through Los Pazos de Ulloa she defends an ideology in which we can easily see Spain reality of the nineteen century. Then, from a critical lecture of the novel, we are planning to threat current cases of our society. In order to realise this work, we studied about the methods undertook by Jacques Soubeyroux (1985, 1993).Then our work is about, after noticing the limits of the previous portrayed about the space in Los Pazos de Ulloa, to show that the spaces Emilia PardoBazán constitute an obstacle for the happiness of the characters. Because, for being determinated by their environment, they are obliged to suffer from different kinds of treatments because of their social situation. Then,the space is now supposed to conditonnate the habits, the expression, and the way of living...In one word, the person, the appearance and the future of anyone are determinated anyway.
