Résumé: Increasing its production without a large investment is the major worry of any wood processing unit (WPU). To do so, using the human and material resource available is à crucial step. The present study aims to contribute to the improvement of the management of the means of production within the company SOCIETE BELINGA & FILS Sarl. The first preoccupation was to diagnostic the materials means of production of the wood processing unit, and secondly to evaluate technically the equipment’s who are disponible in the structure. In other to attain our objectives, an interview was made with the chiefs of different sections, more to it, a quantitative analysis permitted the study of the product quality through degree of precision during sawing. The quantitative analysis through the means of a chronometer permitted to determine the effective production time. The PARETO’s diagram permitted to classify breakdowns in function of their importance and that of ISHIKAWA permitted to understand the origin of these breakdowns. The study shows that the log park has as its main strength its area because it has a space of one more hectare of the storage of logs. Its weak point is its appearance and it management mode. Its appearance presents too many potholes, grass and mire. Its management mode does not allow to exploit all the space offered by the log park. For sawmilling precision, which is a method to control of quality in the wood industry, 55,56% of the sample analyzed has poor precision when sawing. Regarding the speed of production, less than 50% of production time is devoted to sawing, which considerably reduces productivity. Technically, blade breakage alone accounts for 43% of the breakdowns. To address these problems, it was suggested, among other things, that preventive maintenance should be chosen, linearization of the hoist in order to reduce the time lost, and the development of the log park to facilitate and park activities
