dc.description.abstract | The theme discussed in this work is the transfer of sovereignty between Germany and Cameroon during the German colonial period. To better understand the circumstances of the transfer we first tried to define the key concepts of our theme and identify the historicity of the word sovereignty. Thereafter we analyzed the intentions of the various protagonists. Thus Cameroon, does not master the administrative thing and the desire to solve their local problems, seeks the protection of a foreign power, which initially was England, but the delayed reaction of England will make Cameroon a German Protectorate. Germany, meanwhile, wanted to satisfy his political, socio-cultural and especially economic needs. In the end we made a critical analysis of the treaties signed by the two protagonists. We found that these treaties were not text legitimizing the protection of Cameroon, but the pieces of evidence to prevent rivalries with other foreign powers. We also found that these texts legitimized the colonial enterprise and caused strong resistance movements between the colonized peoples. The signing of the contracts favored the total loss of sovereignty of kings and Cameroonian leaders because they have ceased to be the subjects of their politics, culture, and even their economy. This work is a window that allows understanding and knowing the ins and outs of the transfer of sovereignty between Germany and Cameroon during the German colonial period. It remains therefore incomplete work, hence an urgent appeal for contributions. | en_US |
